Kristi Thiel, PhD

Dr. Thiel has over 10 years of experience in basic science and translational research on novel drug discovery for women’s cancers, and is the named inventor on a patent. As an academic researcher in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa, Dr. Thiel’s focus is improving treatments for women’s cancers. Dr. Thiel also has a strong track-record in coordinating multi-investigator projects and fundraising for academic research, with nearly $16M in successfully funded grants in the past 5 years. Dr. Thiel was recently recognized as a finalist in the Rising Star (Under 40) Category by the 2015 Iowa Women of Innovation, and is featured in the University of Iowa’s Dare to Discover Campaign based on her efforts in women’s cancers. She completed UI Venture School in May 2014 and is a technical advisor for the startup company, Advanced Silicon Group.
