Kristi Thiel, PhD

Co-Founder & VP for Business Development

Dr. Thiel has nearly 20 years of experience in basic science and translational research on novel drug discovery for women’s cancers. She completed her PhD in Biochemistry at Vanderbilt University, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Iowa in oncology. As an academic researcher in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa, Dr. Thiel’s focus is improving treatments for women’s cancers. She has authored 40 scientific manuscripts and is the named inventor on two patents. Dr. Thiel also has a strong track-record in coordinating multi-investigator projects and fundraising for academic research, with nearly $25M in successfully funded grants. Dr. Thiel has been recognized locally for her entrepreneurial and scientific achievements and was featured in the University of Iowa’s Dare to Discover Campaign based on her efforts in women’s cancers. She leads business development activities at Immortagen, with a focus on forging new partnerships to advance development of Immortagen’s pipeline of bioinformatics analysis tools for personalized cancer treatments.
